Rainy Day Reads (The Sky Is Crying And So Should You)

Fact #1: I’m very much a mood reader.
Fact #2: Not all rain is created equal.

On the surface, this prompt seems perfect for me, because yay, mood reading! But … what exactly does rain mean? I live in Tornado Alley, so rain for me means thunderstorms more often than not. And hail means tornado. Just, you know, fun fact.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is about rainy day reads. But since rain comes in different forms, so too should your rainy day reads! Don’t worry, just like an umbrella, I’ve got you covered.

Let the really bad rain puns commence!

Okay, I love how you divided up your rainy day reads. Delightful!

I’d love to see what you think of my rainy day reads. I hope you will stop by.

  2. I LOVE how you broke this list down and found perfect examples for each mood. Top notch rain jokes too. I’ve only read a few of these, but I’m pretty sure that I really need to read Just One Damned Thing After Another. I live in a climate known for rain, although we get a lot more drizzling and misting than actual downpours–except for the past week! So I rebelled and wrote about tropes I don’t like instead.

    • Thanks! If I’m honest, I’m a little suspicious if you consider my rain jokes top notch, but … I’ll take it. 😉

I recommend it! It’s pretty funny and unique and fun, although the plot (or lack thereof) really drives me crazy, personally. But I keep coming back for more. I can’t help it.

Nothing at all wrong with a little rebellion. I’ll be sure to check out your list. :3

First of all, I love the way you organized your list.

Secondly, did you know The Art of Racing in the Rain is going to be a film? I can’t remember when it’s coming out, but I’m sure looking forward to watching it.

    My TTT.

  4. Love the distinctions you’ve made for the different types of rain. Clever! I haven’t read many of the picks that you chose but the ones I recognize are pretty fitting with the mood 🙂

  5. suicidesamblog

I loved how you broke down your selections by the type of rainy day – such a fun take on the topic! 🙂

    • Thank you! This post was more fun than I thought it would be. I panicked at first when I saw the topic of rainy day reads! lol.

  6. I love your picks for this week, and I really love how you’ve separated them into different types of ‘rainy day’ reads as well. Now I have something to add to my TBR list for all kinds of rainy weather! 😀
I have The Ocean at the End of the Lane on my TBR list, I’ve loved all of Neil Gaiman’s other books that I’ve picked up so I’m sure I’ll love that one too, and I’ve been meaning to get around to The Astonishing Colour of After for a while now as well. I’ve heard some amazing things about it.
Great post, and again great picks for this week. 🙂

    • Thanks! I hope your TBR isn’t suffering too much. xD

The Ocean at the End of the Lane was actually the first Neil Gaiman book I ever picked up. I have some of his others, but I haven’t gotten to them yet because I’m a dirty, dirty procrastinator. xD

The Astonishing Color of After was fantastic, but also very emotional, and I’d warn you that it involves suicide (if you didn’t already know that). But it was beautiful.

      • Ha, don’t worry I’m a dirty procrastinator too, so I know where you’re coming from. 😀
Ohh, thanks for the warning. I think I was aware of that but suicide is one of my triggers so it’s nice to have the warning.

  7. Ooh, I just picked up In The Night Wood on a whim yesterday, in the library, without seeing your post first! Now I’m extra tempted. 🙂

    • If you love anything dark and Gothic and open for interpretation, you’ll probably enjoy it. I thought it was well done and a great read. I hope you enjoy it!
