It’s time to play “guess that book” and also watch our TBRs weep.
“First Line Fridays” is by Hoarding Books and is all about the first line of a current/upcoming read. Friday 56 is a meme hosted by Freda’s Voice, where you turn to page 56 (or 56%) in what you’re reading a find a snippet that jumps out at you. The idea to combine the two came from Nicole @ BookWyrmKnits.
First Lines
They are not the sort of words that you expect to start a legend, but they were the first words he ever heard her say.

Book Reveal
Two nations at war. A prize beyond compare.
For generations, the Hundred Isles have built their ships from the bones of ancient dragons to fight an endless war.
The dragons disappeared, but the battles for supremacy persisted.
Now the first dragon in centuries has been spotted in far-off waters, and both sides see a chance to shift the balance of power in their favour. Because whoever catches it will win not only glory, but the war.
Reasons to Read
✿ Dragons! Roll credits.
✿ Ships built from dragon bones.
✿ Large-scale, bloody war
✿ Hunt the dragons, win the war
✿ Book one of a trilogy
✿ Strong female characters
✿ … have I mentioned the dragons?
DRAGONS is all you needed to say! After Priory I’m still craving more dragons 😂 This sounds like an interesting read 😍 Hope you enjoy it whenever you get to it! Lol
Thanks! Should be reading it … this week? I hope. Maybe. xD But yeeees. <3 I want all the dragon books now. And I'm not even done with Priory yet LOL.
Well, Priory has some of the dragons but now ALL OF THE DRAGONS. Maybe this one will have more? I hope you keep on with Priory! LOL you’re so close! So close!!
I don’t think you can call 60% as being so close. >.> I think I’m going to just continue reading a couple chapters a day, because it’s really too much to just keep pushing through all at once lol. It almost put me to sleep last night and I had to switch to something else.
Happy Friday! The book I’m featuring on my blog this week is a nonfiction by Ariniko O’Meara, A City Saunter Story. Here’s the first line to Chapter 40: “Whatever you do, don’t walk Baker Street!” I read the message three times. As much as I knew my friend meant well, I felt she wasn’t fully grasping my project.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Oooh, that’s a really compelling line! Definitely makes me want to find out more about what’s going on and why not Baker Street. :3
Over on my blog this week, I’m sharing the first line from Jody Hedlund’s newest YA book, Foremost.
Here I’ll share the first line of a book I’m nearly finished reading, Aiming for Love by Mary Connealy.
“Josephine Nordegren floated through the woodland silent as a ghost.”
I love that imagery! Definitely grabs your attention. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Happy Friday!
Today on my blog I’m sharing the first line from Christmas in Winter Hill by Melody Carlson. I’m currently reading Freedom’s Kiss by Sarah Monzon. I’m just starting chapter 29, so I’ll share the first line from there.
“Florida, 1832
Winnie felt like a cow being led to slaughter, just waiting her turn to stand before the butcher with a club in his hand.”
Hope you have a great weekend filled with excellent reading time. 🙂❤📖
Oh, that’s an awesome simile! Also, such tension. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
Dragons dragons dragons!!!
You know, all the important things in life. 😉 Because priorities.
Absolutely!
I know I know I know!
Pffft, you cheated. 😛
Happy Weekend! My first line is from “Least Expected” by Autumn Macarthur:
“Maggie Golding ran her fingers through her multi-coloured hair, planted her hands on her hips, and took a step back to examine the latest window display she’d created for Pettett and Mayfields London department store.”
How interesting! Don’t think I’ve read a book with a protagonist who organized window displays.
I’ve just recently started with Hotel Iris by Yoko Ogawa:
“He first came to the Iris one day just before the beginning of the summer season.”
Ooooh mysterious strangers, hm? That’s always a good way to start things. 😉 How are you liking it so far?
I finished it last night, I was disappointed with the last quarter of the book, though…
