I’m really bad at Would You Rather, because the answer is vehemently: yes.
Yes, I would like to have my cake and eat it, too, please. Gluten free, chocolate, and with buttercream frosting. None of that nasty whipped crap. Cake or death!
I was tagged by the fabulous Leelynn @ Sometimes Leelynn Reads, who’s currently on a brief hiatus, but you can totally (and obviously should) go heap tons of love on her for when she gets back.
So settle in nice and cozy-like and I’ll pretend that I’m not an indecisive ball of anxiety masquerading as a human, and let’s get this thing rolling, yeah?
Only Trilogies or Standalones?
✦ Trilogies ✦
I feel like I mostly read series and trilogies, anyway, and I’d really rather never leave these worlds that I love so much, so this suits me just fine. Give me all the trilogies forever! The only downside is having to wait for the next books to come out, but I’m always behind anyway, so maybe this way I’ll actually be ready when the next book releases? Yeah, no, I didn’t think so, either.
Only Female or Male Authors?
✦ Male Authors ✦
I had to really think about this one. I love (and read) a lot of female authors, but all of my top favorite authors are male. So I guess I’d have to go with male for this one.
But then again, what’s gender, anyway? What if I just … say that all the female authors I’m reading also identify as male authors? Does that count? Is this a loophole?! I’m trying here.
Barnes & Noble or Amazon?
✦ Amazon ✦
This one was super easy. There’s no Barnes & Noble anywhere close to where I am, and their website requires a certain amount for free S&H, and their books are so much more expensive than Amazon. No, thanks. I’m all for Amazon, through and through. Plus, I love picking up Kindle deals, if the 10,000 books I have on my account right now are any evidence …
All Books Become Movies or TV Shows?
✦ TV Shows ✦
I mostly read fantasy, and aaaall the recent fantasy movies have convinced me you just can’t sufficiently fit a good fantasy plot in the span of a movie. Let’s give these people TV shows, so they can do what they want and give the shows the attention they deserve!
5 Pages/Day or 5 Books/Week?
✦ 5 Books/Week ✦
I think I would just wither away and die if I could only read five pages a day. What happens when you get to a good part? OMG THE TOLL WOULD’VE DESTROYED ME. Can you even imagine. No, don’t think about it. It’s too terrifying. I generally average three books a week, so sure, let’s bump that up to five, and I can knock out a bit of my TBR earlier than expected.
Professional Reviewer or Author?
✦ Author ✦
I’m actively working on this one and crossing my fingers and putting in all sorts of hours to make this happen. Will that be enough? Who knows. Writing is hard, yo. Publishing is harder. What I’m saying is I’m exhausted and need a nap, guys. Send coffee. And pillows.
Top 20 Forever or All New Books Forever?
✦ All New Books ✦
I’m not a big re-reader as it is, but I know for sure that I don’t want to read the same 20 books forever, regardless of how much I loved them. So all new (to me, at least) books, please, and keep ’em coming.
Librarian or Bookseller?
✦ Librarian ✦
I guess, technically, I’m close to this one already? I work at a library and deal with all the bookish things and people and recommending books. I love it. I don’t want to just sell books, I want to do all the bookish things. Plus, I can do programs as a librarian and encourage people to read, but do so much more than just books, too. Plus, it’s always nice to be able to recommend a book and see that minute when the reading thing just kind of clicks with a kid.
Only Favorite Genre or All But Favorite Genre?
✦ Only Favorite Genre ✦
Ehhh, yeah, let’s go with fantasy. It’s mostly what I read, anyway, and I’d be willing to sacrifice everything else for the good of fantasy. You know what I can’t sacrifice? Dragons, talking swords, pirates, and assassins, okay. Priorities.
Only Physical or Only E-Books?
✦ Only E-Books ✦
I love physical books as the next person … sometimes. But to only read physical books? I already have nightmares of being crushed to death under the weight of my TBR, and I use e-books to offset the actual “weight” of said stack of books. If I had to own all physical books, they would just band together to form the ultimate Transformer and pummel me into dust, I’m sure. Then who’d be sorry, after they take over the world, hmm? Where would I even live once all the books have taken over my house?
This was pretty cool, and some of these questions are tough! I guess that’s the whole point of the game🤣 Not sure how I would answer the genre one…
They were supposed to be tough, but man, I feel like I just participated in the Inquisition and it wasn’t easy. xD Some of them really made me think.
ILYSM! Hahah I loved your answers too! I forgot about all our physical books banning together to crush us to death because we haven’t read them all.
Haha thank you. <3 I feel like our books, in particular, would have a larger vendetta against us, and I don't know why, but I feel like that would just be our luck, right? lol.
See, if I had to pick, I would go with Barnes & Noble and all physical books. There’s nothing like the smell of new books. (Then again, I *do* have a local B&N, so that’s a benefit.)
I think if I had a B&N closer, my answer might change. I used to love to visit when I had one nearer, but now, I’d have to drive 1.5 – 2 hours away for the nearest one, and suddenly it loses its charm. xD
That does make it harder. Of course, I also have a local indie bookstore about the same distance away as B&N, so I try to visit both. (B&N for gifts, though, since my local indie shop is too far for family to do returns if needed.)
I 100% support your loophole for the author. It totally works! I love this tag and these answers Sammie! I’m in complete agreement with you for pretty much all of them except for the author bit. I have no desire to be an author… I don’t think I even have the imagination to come up with a less than half-decent book concept, so I’m good with being a professional reviewer lol 😅 ALL THE BOOKS!
Well, you know, we can’t all be authors. How chaotic would that be? You can be the reviewer to my author. 😉 Also … yay for loopholes! lol.
I’ve read a lot from my Kindle but physical books are really treasures! 🙂
I totally agree! I wouldn’t *willingly* give up my physical books, but I suppose if I absolutely had to make a choice …
