The sergeant grunted. “We have a leak. one of my men, no doubt. Some of them don’t like the way I do things.”
“Then I’d say they’re a sight smarter than you are.”
“What?“
“You have completely cocked up this investigation from the start.”
Book Reveal
Modern witchcraft blends with ancient Celtic mythology in an epic clash of witches and gods, perfect for fans of V.E. Schwab’s Shades of Magic trilogy and A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES.
Seventeen-year-old Dayna Walsh is struggling to cope with her somatic OCD; the aftermath of being outed as bisexual in her conservative Irish town; and the return of her long-absent mother, who barely seems like a parent. But all that really matters to her is ascending and finally, finally becoming a full witch-plans that are complicated when another coven, rumored to have a sordid history with black magic, arrives in town with premonitions of death. Dayna immediately finds herself at odds with the bewitchingly frustrating Meiner King, the granddaughter of their coven leader.
And then a witch turns up murdered at a local sacred site, along with the blood symbol of the Butcher of Manchester-an infamous serial killer whose trail has long gone cold. The killer’s motives are enmeshed in a complex web of witches and gods, and Dayna and Meiner soon find themselves at the center of it all. If they don’t stop the Butcher, one of them will be next.
With razor-sharp prose and achingly real characters, E. Latimer crafts a sweeping, mesmerizing story of dark magic and brutal mythology set against a backdrop of contemporary Ireland that’s impossible to put down.

Me, too! I’m a sucker for books with birds on the cover.
I’m hoping to start this soon, you’re making it sound so good😁

Me, too. Today, if I’m lucky. xD I’ve heard good things about it, so here’s to hoping we both enjoy it!

Right?! That for sure grabbed my attention right away. Then again, I have a thing with serial killer books anyway, so that helps. Maybe I should be concerned about that? lol.
The Butcher…that certainly got my attention!
Right?! Hard to resist that.
This sounds exciting! I’d love for everyone to check out my blog today . . . https://lisaksbookthoughts.blogspot.com/2020/02/its-cozy-food-friday-that-means-its_28.html
Not sure this would be my type of book but the multiproblematic situation sounds intriguing.. Have a lovely weekend. My Friday quotes from Red at the Bone

That’s fair. Not every book is for everyone. 🙂
I totally agree, the Butcher of Manchester is an awesome serial killer name. I haven’t seen this one before so thanks for sharing! Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂
I’m always curious about how serial killers get their names, so I’m hoping it touches on that. xD
Happy Friday!
Over on my blog, I’m sharing the first line from When He Found Me by Victoria Bylin: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2020/02/28/first-line-friday-125/. I’m currently finishing A Convenient Christmas Wedding by Regina Scott, so I will share a line from that book here.
“Nora woke on Christmas morning to the sound of voices calling.”
Hope you have an excellent weekend full of fun and relaxing reading!

I’m a real sucker for books with witches, too. xD
The quotes are great. I especially love the cheekiness of the 56. I’m looking for something outside of my reading rut and this sounds like it would shake things right up.

Sometimes that’s the best thing you can do for a reading rut! I hope you enjoy this if you pick it up.
The cover doesn’t draw me in, but the blurb sounds interesting.

It’s definitely not as eye-catching as other books in its genre, which is interesting and I wonder why they went that avenue. Maybe so it stands out in its simplicity? Who knows. The blurb sure sounds good, though, and that’s the most important thing!

Yay! I can’t believe I managed to guess this one 😂 It was good timing since I just read the blurb for the book right before reading your post. I think I might just add this to my TBR now (wasn’t really sure I wanted to before) lol

Bwahaha talk about timing! I’m not very far into it yet, but I’m really enjoying it. It’s all dark and brooding and mysterious so far.
