TBR Status: 2 1/2 books shy of rising up and becoming a brutal overlord.
As such, I’ve tried to slow down my book acquisition accordingly. The operative word there being trying. I never said succeeding, because … well, here we are, right?
I also totally confess that I have a stack of books that I got from the library, just in case I end up stuck at home, so I really didn’t need to buy anything. And honestly, most of my purchases are bought at second hand places, which I’ve obviously not been visiting.
Physical Haul
I only got one physical book this month, which I’m pretty sure means I deserve a cookie for a job well done, right?! In my defense, I sort of had to get this. Orbit was so kind as to send me books one and three of this series, so I picked up book two, A Time of Blood, and I’m glad I did, because the first book is going fast.
Kindle Haul
Night of the Dragon: Book three of the Shadow of the Fox series and apparently a book that will singularly drive up the stock price of tissues anc destroy my feels. I’m ready for it!
Every Bone A Prayer: I picked this one up solely as a possible library recommendation rather than a personal read. I mean, it does sound good (obviously, or I wouldn’t waste my time), but it also takes place in an area similar to where I live, and I have to giggle about the mention of a holler, because the use of that word around here becomes a sort of joke.
The Book of Fatal Errors: Rufus sounds a little too relatable. I, too, make fatal errors. I’m feeling Fae reads this year, so I just went for it.
The Invisible Boy: I’m actually in a Facebook group with this author and didn’t even realize it until after I’d requested it. I love Applegate and her approach to big topics, so I thought this might be an interesting one to try!
The Total Eclipse of Nestor Lopez: The Wild Thornberrys was a big thing growing up, so as soon as I saw Nestor Lopez could talk to animals? Yup, this is for me, thanks. Everything else was just icing on the cake.
Defy the Sun: This series just sounded really interesting to me. This one’s late, but in my defense, I wasn’t approved for it until, like, it came out? Oops?
Out of Body: First, that cover is fabulous. Second, it’s about a librarian, and I am so predictable these days that sometimes that’s all it takes. But a librarian discovering a serial killer? Yes, please.
Fable: I loved Sky in the Deep, so when I heard Adrienne Young had a new book coming out, I of course had to read it. That’s all I needed to know.
Drowned Country: I confess I haven’t finished reading Silver in the Wood. I started it and fell in love immediately, but just haven’t had a chance to finish it yet. I got distracted by … something. I can’t even remember what now. But when I saw it was getting a sequel, I figured I’d just read them together, so here we are!
Bone Chase: I am 100% blaming this one on Tammy @ Books, Bones and Buffy. There I was, minding my own business, and she so rudely shoved this one in my face in one of her posts and made it sound so interesting that I had to read it. When my TBR rises up to enslave humanity … remember that you have her to partly thank for it. xD
The Shadows: By the author of The Whisper Man, so … um, heck yes? The Whisper Man was so deliciously dark and atmospheric, and I’m really interested to see what the author does with this book!
The Apocalypse Strain: Given recent times, a virus that has a mind of its own and wants to escape and infect people is both terrifying and oddly timely, so I’m going for it.
The Extraordinaries: After reading The House in the Cerulean Sea, I knew I had to read anything and everything else that TJ Klune has written. So … here we are. Not my typical book, but I have faith in the author that I’ll love it.
After She Wrote Him: The idea of this is just mind-boggling but also sounds really interesting. Two authors writing a book about the other … but whom is writing whom?
Something is Killing the Children, Vol. 1: I read the beginning of this, and it is so dark and creepy and I will be reading this in the middle of the day, thank you very much.
The Chosen: Just … everything about this sounds perfect. It has so many of my favorite tropes. I’m really just curious about this entire series and … yes. Just so much yes.
They Went Left: I’m on the blog tour for this, and I’m so excited! I’m a sucker for WWII books, even though I know they always hurt my feels. I just love the whole idea of this, though.
The Hollow Places: Really, I’m just feeling thrillers and spooky stories this year. Portals to other worlds with mysterious malevolent creatures? Heck yes!
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue: V.E. Schwab has a new adult book! That’s all I needed to know. The fact that it sounds super interesting is a plus, but let’s be honest … I would’ve read it even if it sounded like a dud.
The Book of Dragons: An anthology. About. Dragons. Obviously, this was written just for me. Thank you, I love it.
The Camelot Betrayal: So … I haven’t read the first book yet? I should soon. But I do enjoy Kiersten White’s writing, and I love books about King Arthur (but … twisted), so I’m pretty sure this is going to be my thing.
A Time of Blood sounds awesome and so does Out of Body and The Shadows. I’m dying for V.E. Schwab’s new book!
I’m reading the first one in the series, A Time of Dread, and it’s really good so far. Yes! I’m interested to see what Schwab does with this one. I’ve loved her other adult books. :3
OMG you went crazy with eARCs! We got some of the same ones. I’m thinking of downloading Bone Chase but I’m going to wait a bit since I have WAY too many ARCs right nowπ And hey, I’m ok with taking the blame for that oneπ€ͺ

Whaaaat? Now does that sound like something … yeah, okay, I can’t even finish that. You’re right. xD See, that’s probably the most sensible thing to do. I commend your restraint. I clearly have none of it lol.
Defy the sun looks cool! Im loving the cover, happy reading π
Thanks! I really love the cover of both books (one light, one dark). I thought they were really neat, how they did it. π
I hope you will enjoy all of these!
I only bought one book, House of earth and blood, and got loads of ooks from the library haha!

Thank you! It’s a good book to buy haha. I fully support your purchase decisions. xD I’ve got a small stockpile from the library, too. Thank goodness for that.
That’s….actually I’m more impressed that you got all those books. That’s a whole lot of books, isn’t it? When they are all on the eReader though, I always feel like it’s not that bad. No-one can see them and haul me away to book buyer’s rehab. π
I made a Netgalley account and requested my first book! Yay. It might be a long time until I get so good that I can request as many as you. π I hope you have a lot of fun with your new books. πππ

Shhhh … no, it’s not a lot. Because they’re digital and digital doesn’t count as an actual *book* book. It’s totally different. π I consider my Kindle a safe space. Meaning I can be a crazy book hoarder and no one has to know. Except for that one time my husband made the mistake of clicking “All” on his Kindle, since we share libraries, and he almost had a stroke.
Woot woot! Welcome to the rabbit hole. xD It’s easy to get sucked down here. Good luck, and I hope you’re approved!
Sammie, this month, I treated myself to a gorgeous new purple NIV Bible, and I received The Jane Austen Society by Natalie Jenner and The Forgotten Sister by Nicola Cornick from NetGalley. I hope you enjoy your new books. π

Oh, that new Bible sounds gorgeous! Hope you enjoy the books you got from NG!
Your ebook haul for March looks about the same size as mine! I’ve bought about 20 ebooks so far this month (actually… just in the last two weeks since we started sheltering in place…) and I pre-ordered 4 hardback books that I MUST get my hands on. I have scheduled a TTT post about it for the beginning of May, though, so you’ll have to wait until then to see the full list. π

Ha, I think staying home sure hasn’t done any favors for our wallets and book-buying bans, right? xD Oh, you’re such a teeeeease! Well, I suppose I’ll just have to wait to see all your new goodies.
Now this is a haul! I’m so envious of a couple of books here and also have quite a few in common with you. I can also blame Tammy for my haul of Bone Chase. She’s such a great enabler.
I love looking at people’s hauls for just that reason. It’s about the only time you can enjoy being so envious. xD Darn, Tammy and her enabling. And also bless her. It’s complicated LOL.
Drowned Country is soooooo good! I am jealous of The Book of Dragons haha. I can only wish for it ._. *criesforever*

Wow, looks like you have some fabulous reading ahead of you! I also picked up Night of the Dragon (in audio though) and I’m starting that next–so excited! Also Drowned Country! Can’t wait to get to that one.
Hope you enjoy these!
