Long story short: this blog is getting a rebranding.
Huzzah! How’s that for ripping off the Band-Aid? In all honesty, this has been a long time coming, and it’s something I’ve put a lot of thought and consideration into, so I’m excited to finally be moving forward with it.
So let’s get into some of the details real quick.
Why a rebrand?
When I made The Writerly Way, all the way back in January of 2018, I had no idea what the heck this blog thing was going to be. I figured I’d make a writing blog with maybe a little reading on the side. You can see that idea has turned out well.
The truth of the matter is, this name just no longer fits this blog. I thought it did at first, but it really never has. I don’t even want this blog to be about writing anymore, because I love the bookish community. You all are my people. So this site will be getting a new name that will better fit with that. I’m not ready to reveal it yet, but I think you’ll like it. 😉
TL;DR: The Writerly Way doesn’t scream bookish when it should, because I’m a silly onion who can’t name things, as it turns out.
What can you expect?
Well, there’s going to be a name change to the site, one that I hope you’ll all agree is for the better. Something catchier and more bookish. I’ll be sad to see The Writerly Way go, but it’s time.
There will also be a new look and feel! Because a blog can’t become a new person without a change of appearance, can it now? I’m going to go out on a limb and hope that this will be a change for the better. I’ve gotten so used to the way this site looks after my last mini redesign, but it’s time now for something new. Something brighter and easier on the eyes.
TL;DR: New name, new look, same old dorky blogger.
When will this happen?
Uhhh … well … you see … *mumbles* I dunno. Ideally, I’d like to say in the next couple of weeks. Loose goal is sometime after next Monday, so it doesn’t interrupt the blog tour I have scheduled then. After that? It’s just a matter of time. More specifically, my time.
My director was hinting that the library would maybe fully close (for all workers) for two weeks, at which point I thought it’d be a perfect opportunity to work on this. Problem is, I have no idea when that’s coming. So for now, we’ll just have to settle for: it’s coming. I’ll make sure to post again when I know more about the timeline.
TL;DR: Sometime in the next month … ish? Maybe? Wow, I’m bad at commitments.
How does this affect you?
Well, hopefully it won’t too much. In an ideal world, if everything goes well, the transfer should be smooth and seamless, and you’ll just notice that you’re getting notifications from a new website name (which I will for sure have a reveal about before I go ahead and change it and confuse everyone. I’m just not ready to reveal it right this minute).
What this really means for all you lovely readers, though, is that my site may be down or spotty starting sometime next week. I’ll be taking a day off for the transfer, whenever it comes through, so the site should be up and running at that point, but it may take a few days to get settled and things looking like normal again as I work on changing the theme and appearance.
All I ask for is patience during that time. If this place looks a mess, forgive me! If something’s broken … well, either ignore it and try again later or shoot me a DM on Twitter and tell me to fix my mess. xD
TL;DR: If The Writerly Way is down or looks a mess … don’t panic! Bigger and better things are coming.
Well, as long as you don’t turn suddenly into a pumpkin and stay our Sammie then whatever change may come is good. As long as you’re happy with it. 🙂
I’m sure, you’re gonna choose something pretty for the new design. And don’t stress yourself. The only thing I hope that stays, is that it keeps showing up in my wordpress reader. 🙂

A pumpkin? *nervous laughter* Why would you even think of such a thing? *pushes pumpkin costume further under the bed*
It *shouldn’t* impact WordPress or notifications at all, because they’re separate, so I just have to reattach my WP to the new site and then it should be business as usual. In theory. Assuming I don’t break anything, which may be a big assumption. xD
Cool, Sammie! I’m excited. And jealous because I’ve been wanting to change the name of my blog for years but never had the guts🤣

I’ll be the guinea pig! *raises hand* I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE. Once I finish messing up my site and putting it back together, I’ll know what I’m doing, in theory, and can help you whenever you decide to pull the trigger, so to speak. xD
This is so exciting! I can’t wait to learn what your new blog name will be (oooh, my guess is that it’ll have something to do with dragons???) and what your redesign will look like! Good luck on the transition! 😀

You know me so well. xD <3 I should be announcing it in the next few days for sure, though. ;) Thanks for the luck! I have an inkling that I'll need it.
Sounds exciting! Good luck!

Thank you! I think it’ll be more exciting (for me, anyway) once it’s done. xD
How exciting! As someone who has changed the look and feel of his blog more times than he cares to admit, I totally understand where you’re coming from. And as long and frustrating as the process can be, it’s really worth it when you’re happy with the final product.
It is! I’ve only done one major revamp before, and it was such a nice feeling to see how much better it looks afterward. :3
How exciting. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us! Whatever it is, I’m sure it will be great.
Thanks! I hope it turns out well.
(Also, I don’t know if this is just me, but I can’t get on your website anymore. For some reason, it’s giving me a privacy error. =/)
Very cool! Blog rebranding can be annoying (though I haven’t done it in ages) but it can also be a nice fresh start.

Yes! That’s what I’m hoping for. We’ll see how it turns out, but hopefully, it’ll look better than it does now and be easier to navigate. 😀
Looking forward to see what you do! 🙂
Thank you! 😀
How exciting! I can’t wait to find out the name and see what new designs you’ve come up with. I know it’ll be amazing!
