It’s time to play “guess that book” and also watch our TBRs weep.
Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader and is all about the first line of a current/upcoming read. Friday 56 is a meme hosted by Freda’s Voice, where you turn to page 56 (or 56%) in what you’re reading a find a snippet that jumps out at you.

“A practical folklorist,” said Mrs. Silver. “Vampires eliminated, ghouls laid to rest, fairies discouraged, and so on.”
Book Reveal
There is a Wild Man who lives in the deep quiet of Greenhollow, and he listens to the wood. Tobias, tethered to the forest, does not dwell on his past life, but he lives a perfectly unremarkable existence with his cottage, his cat, and his dryads.
When Greenhollow Hall acquires a handsome, intensely curious new owner in Henry Silver, everything changes. Old secrets better left buried are dug up, and Tobias is forced to reckon with his troubled past—both the green magic of the woods, and the dark things that rest in its heart.
Reasons to Read
✿ Based on the myth of the Green Man.
✿ LGBTQ romance.
✿ Short novella, so words just magically fly by.
✿ Has some eerie woods as a setting.
✿ Magic in the woods! Best kind of magic.
✿ Dark secrets that come to light.
This is a weekly meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook meant to take place on Mondays, but since Fridays tend to be my TBR-focused post, I’ve decided to combine them here. Next Monday’s prompt is: Rainbow.
I don’t have a lot of particularly colorful books on my TBR, so I’m just going to make a rainbow of book covers.
I’ve been wanting to read Spellslinger for pretty near forever, and I confess that I definitely like the UK covers better for this. Everything about this just sounds perfect, and honestly, I have no idea why I haven’t read it yet.
More superhero books! But with a twist! Not Your Sidekick has an LGBTQ romance and also, the protagonist just happens to work for the villain. I just think this is a novel way to approach the superheroes and villains thing, and goodness knows I love a good villain.
I’ve been looking forward to reading The Gilded Wolves, but I was kind of waiting until closer to when the second one is released. Roshani Chokshi’s middle grade series was a miss for me, but I did love her YA series, so I’m hoping to love this one just as much.
Summer Bird Blue is another one that’s been on my TBR forever. I’ve heard such wonderful things about Akemi Dawn Bowman. The only thing that’s stopped me is I’m not a huge fan of contemporary, so I have to really be in a particular mood to read it.
Why is Aurora Rising still here?! Your guess is as good as mine. I’m ashamed. I was dying to get my hands on it, and I finally did, and then … I didn’t read it? Being a bookwyrm is confusing and contradictory. I have no explanations here. I’m just as confused as you are.
Not my usual read, but the descriptions and the excerpts, along with that somewhat spooky cover, are making me want to learn more! Thanks for sharing, and here’s mine: “YOU CAN’T CATCH ME”
It wasn’t really a spooky read, but it was good! Almost like a dark fairy tale mixed with a little romance.
Silver in the Wood was really good, I’m anxious to read the sequel😁

It was! I really liked it. I’m almost done with Drowned Country (will be finishing it tonight, actually), and I think I like it even better than Silver in the Wood. :3
This book is already on my TBR list. I like the quotes, and now more than ever I want to read it. Enjoy your current read!

Yeah, I kept hearing good things about it, so that’s what made me pick it up. xD
Happy Friday! My first line is from At Love’s Command by Karen Witemeyer:
“According to the Good Book, there was a time for war and a time for peace.”
Have a great weekend! 😃❤📚
