Books On My Spring Possibility Pile (Ft. Plenty of Diverse Fantasy)

Posted March 16, 2021 by Sammie in book list, chat with me, TBR, top ten tuesdays / 39 Comments

It’s that time of year again: time to look forward to all the books I’m super excited to read in the upcoming months and almost assuredly won’t.

Listen, I go into this with the best of intentions, I promise. I’m all bright eyes and bushy tails with stars in my eyes at all the gorgeous books. Life just keeps steamrolling me, and is that my fault? Well, okay, yes, maybe I did choose to go to grad school. But pffft you can hardly call that my fault. I mean, who knew that grad school eats up all of your free time? Everyone? Oh, okay then.

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is books on my spring TBR. Except I don’t do TBRs anymore. I do possibility piles!

So what’s a possibility pile? It’s the books I might read in the coming months without the added pressure of feeling like I need to read them all.

This isn’t Pokemon, okay? Sometimes you just can’t catch them all. Not even with hacks. You’ll just have to sit in the corner and sob over your lack of Mew, and sometimes that’s life.

I’m going to warn you right now that there’s going to be more than 10. The whole point of a possibility pile is to celebrate all the possibilities! Besides, who can say no to these gorgeous covers? Certainly not you. Admit it. You know I’m right.

The New York Times bestselling author of Dread Nation makes her middle grade debut with a sweeping tale of the ghosts of our past that won’t stay buried, starring an unforgettable girl named Ophie.

Ophelia Harrison used to live in a small house in the Georgia countryside. But that was before the night in November 1922, and the cruel act that took her home and her father from her. Which was the same night that Ophie learned she can see ghosts.

  1. Ooooh, I’m so looking forward to The last fallen star. I’m just such a sucker for Rick Riordan presents books. And I absolutely love Vivienne To’s cover designs. I still haven’t read “The Girl that could move sh*t with her mind” so I have no idea when I will get to that.
AND CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHY ALL THE BOOKS I WANNA READ GET RELEASED IN MAY?! How am I supposed to not die? Because of waiting? Because of being crushed by all the books I really wanna read? By starvation because I don’t actually have any money for all those books that come out in May?!!

    • Rick Riordan Presents has been killing it lately. I will forever read anything that comes out of that imprint!

I’m not sure if Jackson Ford will be for you, but I absolutely love his series!

It’s a conspiracy. The solution is obviously you need to brainwash your employer into paying you to read during May. How you’re going to do that, I’m not sure, but I have utter faith in your abilities!

  2. I put The Unbroken on my list, which is definitely a possibility pile, though maybe a good thing to have when I’m standing in front of mountains of books wailing, I don’t know what to read!

    • Wait, is that not what everyone does the moment they finish a book? Are there people out there who actually *know* what they’re going to read when they finish one book?! 😮

  3. Ahahaha, yes. To everything that you said in that intro because yes. I want to read SO many of these as well and I’m really looking forward to them 😍 A Master of Djinn is a super popular title on today’s lists and I actually had Clark’s novella on my list today so I guess I’ll be looking forward to Master of Djinn soon too (hopefully lol)! Hope you enjoy all these reads, Sammie ❤️ Keep kicking school’s ass! Haha

    • Thanks! Last time I was in school, I had no kid and was a teenager, working 20 – 30 hours a week only, so it’s a very different experience now. xD

    • I was on the fence about reading Soul Lantern, but it sounds like an important read and one I’ll enjoy, so I’m willing to give it a shot. :3

  4. I love POSSIBILITY PILE!! I have done away with TBR’s too because it’s just so freeing. I really can’t wait to read Forest of Stolen Girls and I pre-ordered The Unbroken! I hope we both get to them and enjoy them! Such a great list of books to choose from though!
    My Top Ten

    • I can’t claim it the term. I totally stole it from someone else. xD I think it fits really well, though. Hope you end up loving them both!

  5. I’m so excited for Master of Djinn.
You know what has *consequences* on my TBR? Reading everyone’s posts this week. So many book!

    • I’ve got new books on my TBR, but don’t let that fool you. It’s not like I’ve read all of the *old* books on my TBR yet. xD

  6. A possibility pile – I like that! Lately my anticipated TBR has been more of that than a TBR. A few of these are on my list though (especially A Master of Djinn) that I want to read in the coming months. Happy reading!

    • I admit that I definitely stole that term from another blogger and didn’t come up with it myself. xD I’m not that clever.

    • Thank you! I’m still meandering my way through it. Haven’t caved and wandered off into the wild where the schoolwork can’t find me just yet.

    • Did you read it yet?! You need to tell me how it is so I know if I need to lower my expectations. xD I have such high hopes for this one!
