"What a pretty flower to keep locked in a big, rocky tower."
Nineteen years ago, I was plucked from the heart of a bloody massacre that spared nobody else.
Small. Fragile. An enigma.
Now ward to a powerful High Master who knows too much and says too little, I lead a simple life, never straying from the confines of an imaginary line I've drawn around the castle grounds.Stay within. Never leave. Out there, the monsters lurk. Inside, I'm safe ... though at a cost far greater than the blood I drip into a goblet daily. Toxic, unreciprocated love for a man who's utterly unavailable.
My savior. My protector. My almost executioner.I can't help but be enamored with the arcane man who holds the power to pull my roots from the ground.
When voracious beasts spill across the land and threaten to fray the fabric of my tailored existence, the petals of reality will peel back to reveal an ugly truth. But in a castle puddled with secrets, none are greater than the one I've kept from myself.
No tower is tall enough to protect me from the horror that tore my life to shreds.
To Bleed a Crystal Bloom is a dark Rapunzel reimagining full of immersive imagery and breathtaking angst. A unique new fantasy series perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Jennifer L. Armentrout, guaranteed to grip you from the very first page.

I knew right away I had to read this book. It’s a dark retelling! If you’ve learned anything about me during our time together, surely it’s been that I can never pass those up.
To Bleed a Crystal Bloom is a dark, gorgeously written Rapunzel retelling set in a deliciously dark world with strong females, mysterious men, and plenty of sexual tension.
I like to change up the way I do things every now and then. Keep you on your toes. You never know when a dragon’s going to swoop down and snatch you or a ninja will appear from the darkness or a talking sword will force you on a long, likely fatal journey. Gotta stay vigilant. Don’t get complacit.
To switch things up a little bit, I’m going to introduce you to To Bleed A Crystal Bloom by sharing some of my favorite quotes!
The thing that really struck me about this book is how gorgeously written it is. I found myself re-reading passages because they were so poignant and lovely! It’s the sort of writing I love: the kind that not only sets a mood but paints a scene. So of course I want to share with you some of my favorite quotes!

“She’s older than you, and I gave her plenty, thank you very much.”
Walked right into that one. “What would Halena think if she knew you were messing around with my handmaid?”
He lifts a shoulder. “She was there, too.”
My mouth falls open, closes, opens again … He chuckles, making the dimple on his right cheek pucker, and I consider tossing him off the balcony.
“A gown fitting.” I dust off my pants and shrug. “Don’t look at me like that, I hate dresses.”
“Oh, I’m aware. I clearly remember you ordering me to stuff a poofy number at the bottom of a chasm so you’d never have to look at it again. What … ten years ago? Seven? Five? I lose track.”
Why all the men in my life seem so caught up on my lacerated skin, I’ll never know.

This does sound dark angsty! I love the quotes, I wasn’t expecting humor😁

I was very surprised by the humor, too, but I definitely appreciate humor in dark books! Breaks up the dark a little bit. :3
The quotes are funnier than I was expecting from a dark retelling like this. It sounds like there’s a lot of blood, though, maybe more than I (currently) prefer in my fantasies…

Yup, that surprised me, too! I do think this one would be a little TOO dark for you, though, and it’s got some gore.
