10 Book Bloggers You Should Follow

Posted August 14, 2018 by Sammie in chat with me, discussions, top ten tuesdays / 29 Comments

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that if you’re here, you like books to some extent.

I mean, you may not exactly be a book dragon, atop your hoard of manuscripts, but clearly, you’ve got some vested interest somewhere. Fear not, though! There are others like you! Well, maybe not quite like you, but still, kindred bookish spirits, which is close enough.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday focuses on spreading the love a little with a shoutout to one’s favorite bookish blogs.

And guys, there are a lot of them. SO. MANY. Most of them are 100% brilliant, but since my Time-Turner unfortunately hasn’t come in yet, I only have so many hours in the day and can’t read them all.

This post combines two things I love: fangirling and book blogs!

The blogs listed below are in no particular order. You should follow them all, obviously. Hence the title.

Paper Fury

Probably, if you’ve been around book blogs for any amount of time, you’ve heard of Paper Fury (a.k.a. C. G. Drews, author of A Thousand Perfect Notes). So this one probably comes as no surprise. This blog will always be special, though, because it was the first book blog I ever followed! Back when I was all young and naive, like, eight months ago before I had created my blog. She gave me hope that randomness and craziness could prevail and also not always scare people away.

Reasons to Follow: She’s funny, witty, and has impeccable taste in YA books. Unfortunately, she’s also probably hoarding all the dragon eggs. I’m not sure yet if I should forgive her for it or try to win her favor. Maybe one day she’ll feel generous and decide to share, but only with her follows, and do you want to miss that opportunity? Well, do you?!

This woman loves cake a little less than half as much as Paper Fury does.

Flipping Through The Pages

I can’t even remember how the heck I stumbled on Simant’s blog, but you know what? It doesn’t even matter, because I’m there now and that’s the important thing! The book reviews are both detailed and personal, which is a really fine line to tread. Also, have you seen the site?! It’s so freaking pretty! I am a shallow, shallow creature. So sue me. It looks both gorgeous and simplistic at the same time, and I have no idea how she manages to pull it off but it’s all sleek and lovely.

Reasons to Follow: In-depth and personal reviews. Lovely blog. Lots of great informational posts. Maybe if you follow, all the secrets of good blog design will absorb through your skin like osmosis? Can’t hurt, right?

Ashley in Wonderland

I’ve only just started following Ashley, but this blog is fantastic! She does review some of the more popular books, but I think what I love the most is hearing about the less popular ones. I’ve discovered some really cute books I’ve added to my TBR that aren’t maybe as popular. Sure, I love to read opinions about major books, just like everyone else, but it’s always nice to read about the lesser-known gems.

Reasons to Follow: Reviews more unique, lesser-known books. Just bought a Kindle, so everyone should totally welcome her to the dark side and make sure she’s thoroughly overwhelmed with eBooks, just like the rest of us.

A Dance With Books

Annemieke not only has a wonderful name, but a wonderful blog. Also, wonderful bookshelves, which she’s not afraid to show off, unlike some of us. *cough* Anywho, she features a lot of book hauls (enough to make any book lover drool) and is another great place for finding lesser-known books to read.

Reasons to Follow: Live vicariously through her book hauls while not adding to your own bookshelves. She’s a fan of the Discworld, and we need to all stick together, just in case … I dunno … we rise up or something? I dunno. Sounds like a lot of work. She’s hosting a 15 Years of Bartimaeus Readalong, which sounds like a lot of fun and everyone should join.

Pages Unbound

The reviews here are top-notch. I feel like that goes without saying. I mean, would any blogs be in my must-follow list if they weren’t? Pffft. However, the discussions are really where it’s at. There’s a nice balance of the two (reviews and discussions), along with a really great list of resources for bloggers, if you happen to be one of those types too.

Reasons to Follow: Great, thought-provoking discussion posts. Hosted by two people, and everyone knows two brains are better than one.

Fictionophile

This blog has a little bit of everything. Seriously. I’m sure there’s a kitchen sink somewhere, and I’m not even being flippant about it. I love the variety of posts, from reviews to cover love to discussion posts. It keeps things fresh and always feeling new.

Reasons to Follow: Lynne is an ex-librarian, and she’s no stranger to murder-mysteries, so probably, she could make you disappear if you don’t. Also, lots of variety and just fun stuff and library love and positivity.

Jenniely

I’m new to following this blog, too (because I clearly live in a cave since I’m an ogre). It’s also beautiful, but more than that, I love Jenniely’s personality! She’s all bubbly and cheery and so opposite myself. xD Her focus is on YA, which I love, but if you don’t … maybe you should? Gosh, what’s wrong with you? *huffs*

Reasons to Follow: The optimism is so bright, it will probably blind you, but sometimes, good things hurt, okay? Great YA reviews of popular releases and conference photos and details to drool over. Probably safe to live vicariously through.

The Limit of Books Doesn’t Exist

I’m going to be honest here: I hate math. And if you’re like me, it’s okay. Don’t panic! This is a book blog, but with a really cute twist, and I love the name of it. No math is actually required, I promise. The tagline is: “My love for books is like pi, it’s never ending.” IS THAT NOT FANTASTIC? Just because I hate math, doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate math puns. I’m not really in the know so much as far as adult books go, but I like having balanced blogs, and this one focuses a lot on adult books (mostly mystery/thriller, which is what I tend to read if I’m not reading YA or fantasy), so it’s where I go to get those recommendations!

Reasons to Follow: Lots of great reviews for adult books, for those times when you want to pretend to act your age. No actual math is required (thank goodness). Amanda is both Canadian and good with numbers, which means she could probably take over the world, but is just too nice to … so obviously, someone good to have on your own take-over-the-world-team.

Lena May Books

So, I’m insanely jealous of people who can photograph books. HOW? TEACH ME YOUR MAGIC. I do not have any sort of artistic eye. Some days, I only have eyes for coffee, and just barely. I’ve learned of a lot of really good books through this blog, too, and that’s one of my favorite pastimes. Almost as fun as, you know, actually reading them.

Reasons to Follow: Top-notch reviews and lovely aesthetics. I’m pretty sure that if you look at enough of the photos, maybe the awesomeness will awaken something within you? Or, at the very least, you can just ogle them, so … win-win?

The Cat With A Book

I like cats. I like books. However, I have never liked the two together. Mostly because my cats are about 12 pounds and insist on hogging ALL the surface of the book, despite me trying to read it. Still, I made an exception for this blog! I’m a huge fan of quotes, so what I really like about this blog are the Author Echos, where Angela posts a collection of quotes from a single author.

Reasons to Follow: Cats are jerks and are likely to seek revenge if you don’t. All sorts of good quotes and other bookish things.

  1. I think you definitely have the most fun post this week, as I LOVE the way you hype of these blogs – they all sound amazing and I want to go follow them right now, so thanks for the recs! Some of them I already knew, like Paper Fury and A Dance With Books and some are all new so yay for discovering new blogs!

    • Thank you! I’m glad you like it. 🙂 I pride myself on being a professional fangirl, thank you very much, so if I can’t at least hype some bloggers, I’ve failed at my calling. 😉 I’m pretty sure everybody knows Paper Fury at this point, as they should. The goal now is just to win her favor so maybe you’ll get a minor court when she takes over the world?

    • It sure was! Not only do I enjoy giving love to the people I read regularly, I’ve gotten soooo many new blogs to follow. 😀 I’m excited.

  2. I knew Paper Fury would be on a lot of lists this week. That’s why I didn’t put her on my list. There are several here I haven’t heard of before though.
