Not gonna lie, May is a lousy month for me all around. And not just because of the really wonky flash floods we’ve been having lately. (But also, what’s up with those?!)
Partially because a year ago, my grandmother turned 84 on May 2, then died 10 days later, and then two weeks after that, I miscarried. So this month consisted of me taking a lot of personal time for family, especially making sure my grandfather made it through this month. Which he did. And his flowers in his garden are blooming, which he’s super proud of, so he had me plant even more flowers in his garden.
Which brings me to bone number two I’d like to pick with May: it’s so. freaking. hot. I’m pretty sure the US has moved several light years closer to the sun at this point.
Not a whole lot has happened with me personally over the past month, but here are a few random things:
✦ Good Omens released on Amazon Prime! Binge watched it, like you do. Will be doing a review of the book and series some time this month.
✦ School has ended. I now suffer my minion 24/7. Heaven have mercy on me.
✦ The 20 Books of Summer Challenge starts June 3 and I will be participating … and also making a post with my TBR … eventually.
✦ … have I mentioned that May was a tad chaotic?
✦ I had a wish granted on NetGalley! That’s never happened before. It probably means this is the endtimes. Also means that I’ll be reading Steel Crow Saga earlier than expected. Woot woot!
✦ Lucifer Season 4 has several Tom Ellis bum shots. It’s a pretty spectacular one. Oh, and the show’s pretty good, too. You’re welcome for the tip.

Hubby: We should start getting up at 5:00 AM and exercising first thing in the morning.

Me: Awww, sweetie. We’ve been together, what, eleven years now? It’s a shame I’m going to have to smother you in your sleep, but we’ve had a good run.#marriedlife #nightowl
Supernatural Season 14 writers, brainstorming:
— Sammie (@srbetler) May 10, 2019
Writer 1: Okay, we need an antagonist for this season. We’ve had leviathans, angels, Lucifer, God’s sister. What’s next? You, what have you got?
Writer 2: Ummm … I’ve got nothing.
Writer 1: I love it! But we’ll call it The Empty.
Writers, in general, are fueled by crippling self-doubt, existential crises, coffee, tears of their readers, blood of their enemies, and the annual venture outside the house. Which sounds like a dangerous combination, but I’m sure it’s fiiiiine.#writerslife

Dude do you like live near st. Louis because ALL THE FLOODING!
Ha, I don’t! I live in Kentucky. But I’m fairly certain that the flooding has been more or less universal. xD I have friends all over the US, and they’ve all complained about the flooding this spring lol. Lucky us.
Climate Change. Nah. Doesn’t exist at all. 🤬
I mean, but on the flip side, winter’s my least favorite season, and we had, like, practically no snow this winter? Which I get is a bad thing, but from where I’m sitting … yay, no snow. xD
But still … climate change?
Pish posh. Obviously non-existent. The Earth just knows we prefer no snow and … flooding? You know, for all the people who like canoes! That’s all it is. 😛
Hahaha!
I hope June is a much better month for you!
Thank you!
Great wrap up! Doesn’t look like a pretty bad reading month to me–I read 12 books too! But I do get how May was funky. It feels like I didn’t read any books even though (obviously) I did? Weird times! Endtimes?! But that also reminds me I should watch Good Omens. I always get all excited about something and then… the day comes and I don’t watch/read it… and then the time goes and I’m like 🤦🏻♀️
I think I read a lot of short books this month, so that made it look like I read a lot. That’s the key to pretending to be productive, I guess. xD Should’ve figured that one out sooner haha!
Yes, you should! Watch it! It was both weird times and endtimes, but also a good time. So all the best sorts of time. 😉 I hear you, though. I was super excited, and I didn’t even make it through all the episodes. I had to finish it the next day. And hubby fell asleep in the middle of the third one, because he’s a bum.
Thank you for sharing my post, Sammie! 💖 hopefully June is less chaotic than May was!
Thank you! So far, it’s shaping up to be, and what a relief that is. 😀
Thanks for sharing my post! And it does seem like the weather has been really weird in recent years, doesn’t it? Temperatures are all over the place. It never stops raining. I just want to be able to go outside and have it be a nice, normal day.
Of course! It does! We had basically no snow this winter, which is super odd (we don’t get much, but we do get some). And we haven’t had any really nasty storms lately. We live in tornado alley, so normally, we get some wicked thunderstorms in the spring and fall, but they’ve just been kittens. Also, constant rain haha. Today’s really nice, and we’ve been spending it outside, but it’s the only day this week that it’s not supposed to rain. xD
Thanks for including my post! 💕
Wow, you read a lot last month! I loved Illuminae and Gemina when I read them in the winter, and I should be reading Obsidio soon! And I’m glad you also liked Aristotle and Dante – I need to reread that at one point, hopefully. 😊
I hope the flash floods stop for you soon! And have a great June!
You’re so welcome! Yay! I’ve grabbed Obsidio from the library, but I just haven’t had a chance to pick it up yet because there’s so many other things I have to read before the middle of June haha. I either need to read faster or grow an extra set of eyeballs. I heard that there’s supposed to be a sequel to Aristotle and Dante called There Will Be Other Summers, but not ETA on the release yet. =/ Disappointing. I’ll be snatching that up soon as it comes out, though.
Thanks, you too! And if the floods don’t stop soon, I’ll just invest in a canoe, to heck with it. LOL.
