The Writerly Way’s New Name and Theme Reveal

Y’all ready for this?!

Wow. And now I’ve got that song stuck in my head and an overwhelming need to watch Space Jam, so way to go me. That’s going to haunt me for the rest of the day.

This is happening, guys. I have all sorts of different feels about it. I haven’t had a breakdown or eaten a whole pint of ice cream so far (though, I’m not ruling either of them out yet before I’m done), so I’m calling this a win.

Anyway, you didn’t come here to hear me ramble (okay, you kind of did, but setting that aside).

The new theme will be …

*drumroll*

*pause for dramatic effect*

DRAGONS!

More specifically, bookwyrms, but it’s mostly one and the same. Some of you guessed this theme, because you know me so well, and that makes me super happy, because obviously, this is completely on brand for me. Huzzah!

And what’s a rebrand without a new name, right?

I chose The Writerly Way two years ago, when I thought this blog would be a writing blog, and while I’ve enjoyed it, it’s time for something a bit more fitting. Something more … books.

So without further ado, the new name for the blog iiiiiis …

*clears throat*

*unfolds fancy old scroll*

The Bookwyrm’s Den!

So when will all this go down?

You can expect changes to the layout as early as this week, depending on when I actually find time for it. I’ll be switching to a whole new theme and color scheme (light blue and pink, because it’s time for something a little less dark and dreary, to offset all the stabby murder). My Big Ultimate Plan was to hire someone to do graphics for me, but the person I had in mind is currently closed to commissions, so … I made my own. It’ll probably be obvious. Hopefully, it comes out okay anyway, and maybe further down the road, when things settle down and she reopens, I can work on getting better quality graphics.

The official domain will be switched next Tuesday or Wednesday, hopefully, depending on my schedule.

I have a blog tour Monday, so my hope is that I can make the transfer on Tuesday. If something comes up and I end up busy, though, Wednesday is my backup day. So if things end up going wonky next week and you can’t access this site … forgive me.

So what do you think of the new name and theme, guys?

  1. I was almost sure you would go in this direction. And yay for blue and pinkish! I’m sure it will look grand. The logo is so cute too! <3
Besides my blogname I have changed my blog theme and style and coloring so often over the years that I don't even know anymore. I remember one of the first versions was a garish orange. I'm shivering just thinking about it.

    • Thank youuuu! Bwahaha. What? I’m sure orange was perfect. if it’s good enough for Goku, it’s good enough for your blog. 😛 So long as you pair it with a dark blue.

    • THANK YOU! It for sure is the best club. Everyone else should be totally jelly of us.

YES, THANK YOU. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD SOMEONE. Ahaha I laughed so hard at that, because that is EXACTLY what I said. See? Clearly, we were meant to be in a club together. Others just can’t understand our level of sophisticated thinking.

  2. Hey, Sammie! I’ve been a *silent follower* for a while now, but I thought I would actually say something for once since this is such a huge change haha 😅. Rebranding doesn’t sound easy, especially having to sort of let go of all the memories attached to your first name and theme, so this is so awesome that you’re doing this! The dragon icon is so fricken cute and the pink and blue theme changes sounds like it’ll be equally adorable 😄. Your writing voice is the best hahaha, so anything you do to make your blog look and feel more like you is a bonus 🙂💖.

I love the new name and the colors of the theme! Rebranding is such a difficult decision to make, but I love this so much!
