February is the month of loooove. What do we love here at The Bookwyrm’s Den? Books and coffee, of course!
So yes, this month was the month of books and coffee, which isn’t really a bad way to spend a month, is it? It’s actually kind of ideal now that I think about it.
It doesn’t feel like much actually happened on the blog front … or on the personal front. Actually, are we sure February even happened? Maybe this is all just one mass hallucination?
Here’s what’s happened this month:
- Minion turned 10! Her celebration had to be postponed, because we actually got an ice/snow storm and were trapped in the house all week. We did buy a cake ahead of time so she’d at least have a cake on her birthday. We’re also supposed to be going on Tuesday to get the ends of her hair dyed, and whatever color she chooses, I’ll be getting streaks of in my hair! She’s ridiculously excited about it.
- Graduate school has ramped up. It’s been a decade since I graduated college, so it’s a little shocking to suddenly be thrown back into school. Also, throw in the fact that I’m working full-time and have a kid and caring for my grandfather and all the other things I’m doing. I may have underestimated the time sink a little bit. Still, I’m enjoying some of the things I’m learning, and I’m looking forward to next semester more, where I’ll have gotten my required classes out of the way and can just tackle some more applicable things.
- Hubby got a new Fire tablet! … which means I got a new Fire tablet. Huzzah! One of my big reading goals last year was to read more manga and graphic novels, but I found a barrier to that was how cumbersome it was. My phone’s screen was too small to read them effectively, and I hate having to sit at the computer for as long as it takes to read them. So the compromise was hubby wanted a tablet to read his comics, and I get to steal it for school reading and manga. Perfect, right? So you may notice that my monthly reading has skyrocketed because, hey, I can actually read manga again conveniently! And boy did I miss it.

Blogger Post Love
Here are some great posts this month from other bloggers:✦ Esmee @ Servillas Speaks gives us 10 #ActuallyAutistic authors to check out! C.G. Drews made the list, who’s one of my favorite authors!
✦ Krysta @ Pages Unbound talks about book comparisons and asks, what makes a good book comparison? Such a thoughtful discussion, one I often struggle with myself, as a blogger and librarian, when I try to come up with recommendations for similar books!
✦ Briana @ Pages Unbound talks about villain origin stories and, in particular, what makes a good one!
✦ Mari @ Tirilu makes the case for reading buddies and why you should give buddy reading a try.
✦ Danni @ For Books Sake tells everyone about the Book Bloggers’ Novel of the Year Award (BBNYA). So Indie authors, make sure you check it out and maybe think about submitting a book!
✦ Alice @ Love For Words talks about inscribing books before giving them away and why she does it.
✦ Becky @ Becky’s Book Blog gives us a list of Indie and self-published SFF releases that we have to look forward to in 2021.
Twitter Fun
Not following me on Twitter? Maybe you should. Can't wait to be a part of this again this year! Indie authors, this is a great way to get your work in front of a bunch of bloggers whose whole goal in life is to, in fact, scream about books. Win-win! https://t.co/IknPfqZ85q

How many cups of coffee does it take to go from "successful academic who needs a little pick-me-up" to "coffee gremlin who would gladly chuck you into Mount Doom for one more cup"?

Asking for a friend. ☕️☕️☕️
Me: I don't read Highland romance. They're all the same and, ugh, boring.
